Hi, I’m Annabelle, a French artist living in Devon, UK.
My Story
I’m a bit of a late comer to the art world and did a grand job of staying out of it for most of my life with a few false starts. I don’t regret it though. I think it was always meant to unfold exactly as it did, because life is a journey with experiences to live and learn from, that got me (eventually!) where I’m meant to be. And because now is a very special time to be, and do what my heart wants to do, as we enter a new era for humanity and break old paradigms.
Maybe it took me this long because I was always meant to create art from a spiritual mindset, from a peaceful heart and from intuition… and with these being near non-existent until the start of this decade, it just took me time to get here!
One of the detours I took was a small craft business making freehand embroidered pictures and illustrations with my sewing machine. I enjoyed it for sure, but in the end, I didn’t love it enough to keep it going. It did however get me skilled on the old sewing machine, and as the business petered out, I started drawing these lines while playing around with scraps of fabric.
I didn’t really know why I was so drawn to them at the time, but the seed was sewn.
Fast forward a spell working on an organic farm during covid-19, three years as a tree surgeon – both of which reconnected me to nature – and a few paintings here and there… I found my footing again and made the leap in 2025.
So what’s with the lines…?
I only recently started understanding where the lines in my paintings were coming from, and why they felt important to me. I love those “aaah… that’s why I did that” moments! They come from a knowing, a remembering on some level of energy lines running in and all around us. Through our bodies, Gaia’s “body”, our galaxy and the universe.
For me, the lines represent Gaia’s energy lines, lines of light, song lines. A network or a web of life that has started humming back into harmony gradually over the last few decades, and now more exponentially as humanity’s consciousness is evolving.
I invite you to see what you want to see in my paintings. Most of all, I hope they bring you a sense of joy, wonder and peace. And a little magic!
